I am a college senior in the area for my winter break, and internship period. I have completed all of my required internship experiences, and have returned back to the city just to work.
Although not experienced in professional child care I have over 4 years of experience babysitting my cousins, neice, and the children of a few faculty and staff on campus. I study dramatic arts and indigenous studies, but for a very long time wanted to go into childcare, and have a passion and affinity for it. I have the most experience with children ranging in ages 1 to 5 as during the school year I have the privilege of babysitting the 1 year old daughter of a faculty member, and at home I nanny for my sister, taking care of my now 3 year old neice. I have been trained in CPR twice, and understand how to give CPR to a young child, toddler, or baby.
I am particularly skilled at creating activities games, and things to keep youngsters occupied, particularly imaginative play, and arts and crafts. I am familiar with montessori learning styles, and gentle parenting.
I am patient and a fast learner. I’m a creature of habit, and routine comes easily to me. I am quick to my feet and can deal with tantrums, and arguments easily.
On my college campus I am a resident assistant, and trained in mediation, conflict resolution, fire safety, and restorative practice, all skills that have helped me in my work as a nanny for both my sister and the faculty I work for.
Although I am only in the city for 6 weeks, after I graduate in may, I plan on returning to the city in July full time.
