I have been babysitting since I was 11, I am freshly 18 now. I grew up with a single mother who worked 3 jobs and I was constantly with sitters. My mother could never keep a sitter for more than week.
When I was finally old enough to take care of myself, I was already taking care of the neighborhood children, younger than me. I saw it as a playdate rather than watching kids, because I enjoyed it so much.
When I was old enough to babysit, I took my first CPR class and started to cook, clean, etc.
By the age of 12 I was watching toddlers to 3 and 4 year old kids. This was the age where I started to understand the importance of being a good, trustworthy, amd reliable babysitter. I realized how impactful the babysitters that I had and loved were to my development as a child. I started to learn patience and love was the key to the job, no matter the child.
Just 8 years later, I am an adult fully supporting myself. I am capable to be so independent and responsible because of my upbringing.
I love babysitting because it reminds me of all the good we have in this world. The kids I babysit never fail to teach me new things, and they dont even know it! The pure innocence and love that these kids have allows me to see the world in all of its beauty!
I also think its extremely important to provide safe spaces for kids to be themselves and be taken care of in a professional manner. In a city like New York and in the times we live in, it is more than necessary to have someone who checks those boxes, taking care of your child(ren). I can confidently say that I am very good with kids and would be the perfect sitter for you!
