Hi there!

My name is Makala, and Im passionate about creating a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for children. I recently graduated from Vanderbilt University with a BA in Political Science and have babysat for several families throughout my college career. Im energetic yet patient, and I love engaging with kids on a deeper level through activities like reading stories, playing games, and fostering creativity. I value creating a positive environment where children feel encouraged to learn, explore, and safely express themselves as they grow.

With experience working with children of various ages and personalities, I understand how to balance playtime with important responsibilities like homework help, meal preparation, and bedtime routines. Here are a few examples of my experience:

Family 1: I babysat for a single mom of two toddlers, preparing healthy meals and snacks that accommodated their dietary restrictions while being mindful of her youngest son’s ASD. I introduced creative activities like arts and crafts, outdoor games, and storytelling to engage them beyond screens. I also assisted the older toddler with homework and school projects. In addition, the family had a white Labrador Retriever, and I took care of her by feeding her, ensuring she went outside for bathroom breaks, grooming her, and playing with her when the boys were asleep.
Family 2: I cared for a single moms toddler and infant, ensuring consistency and comfort for both siblings. My responsibilities included regular feedings, diaper changes, and organizing playtime tailored to their developmental needs.

While Im not yet certified in CPR/First Aid, Im committed to completing this certification as soon as possible to enhance my caregiving abilities. Based on feedback from families, Im known for being reliable, patient, and able to connect with children quickly, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued. I take the responsibility of caring for children (and pets!) very seriously and strive to be punctual, organized, and prepared at all times.
